Our Work in Action – Ramsey County Multi-Year Conviction Review

Prosecutors’ Center for Excellence recently completed a comprehensive, multi-year, independent conviction review of over 200 homicides and other high-level cases in Ramsey County, Minnesota. Beginning in the fall of 2021, PCE’s team of legal experts reviewed hundreds of reports and testimonies from Ramsey County’s former Chief Medical Examiner, whose reliability was called into question by a federal judge. PCE conducted interviews, a site visit, case file reviews encompassing thousands of documents, and more to assist the Ramsey County Attorney’s Office with this important endeavor to ensure the integrity of past convictions.
