Welcome
On behalf of the Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office, I welcome you to Salt Lake City, Utah for the National Best Practices Conference on “The Prosecutor Office of the Future: Practice and Policy.” Our speakers, topics, and materials will provide you with knowledge and insights that will enhance our practice as prosecutors. We are excited to hear your thoughts and ideas for implementing best practices regarding the future of our profession.
I express my personal appreciation to our speakers for taking the time to share with us the benefit of their experience and wisdom. I also thank all those who have worked so hard to deliver this conference, especially Kristine Hamann and Marissa D’Amore from PCE; Nell Christensen from the Clark County DA’s Office; Dan Clark from the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, both members of the PCE National Best Practices Committee; and Nicholas Pensari, Anna Rossi Anderson, and Elizabeth Bayler from my office. I am grateful for all their efforts to ensure a memorable conference.
“Best Practices” are ever changing and evolving. Therefore, I, together with the Prosecutors’ Center for Excellence, commit to hosting this conference every other year. I solicit your ideas for topics for future conferences. It was my hope that when we conceived this conference that we would create a space for research, innovation, and incubation of ideas for the work we do and the challenges we all face. Eight years later, your ideas, insights, and experience continue to help us achieve that mission.
I welcome you to embrace all that Salt Lake City has to offer during your time here. The State of Utah is a gem in this country, and we are fortunate to share it with you!
I hope you find this conference engaging and rewarding.
Very Truly Yours;
Sim Gill
Salt Lake County District Attorney
