Financial and Cybercrimes Prosecutor to Disrupt Criminal Profiteering (2019)

In response to violent crime committed by gang members and others in furtherance of the illegal drug trade, The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office (SAO) is utilizing Innovative Prosecution Solutions resources to diminish the profitability of these crimes. The SAO has hired a dedicated Financial and Cybercrimes Prosecutor, who coordinates law enforcement efforts to target financial enterprises with a nexus to violent crimes.
This prosecutor is responsible for creating protocols to aid financial crime investigations, including guidelines for the effective preservation, maintenance, and presentation of digital evidence. The prosecutor is also working closely with the Gun Crime Strategies Unit to gather intelligence and identify targets; the Complex Narcotics Prosecutions Unit to prosecute connected drug crimes; and the Community Justice Centers to increase community engagement and education.
