Prosecutor Outreach Program for New Law Students (2022)
San Diego District Attorney’s Office (San Diego, CA)
Population: 3,298,634 | Number of Full-Time Prosecutors: 330 | Contact Information
The San Diego County District Attorney (SDCDA) has developed a week-long program for first year law students who may not have a pre-existing interest in prosecution work, by giving them access to experienced lawyers through a week full of interesting presentations and experiences.
SDCDA uses connections to local law schools to recruit students from diverse backgrounds and interests to attend. Students participate in tours to local courts and facilities, meetings with judges and prosecutors, and other engaging events where prosecutors share their own stories of commitment to public service and their communities. The model enables the office to showcase the important work of serving victims and improving community safety.
