The St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office (CAO) is launching a multidisciplinary effort to combat intimidation and keep witnesses safe, with the goal of improving violent crime prosecutions. The CAO is using a grant from Innovative Prosecution Solutions (IPS) to launch a mobile application for victims and witnesses that allows anonymous reporting of intimidation events and pairs them with local services.

Yolo County District Attorney’s Office (Woodland, CA)

The Yolo County District Attorney’s Office created a Crime Strategy Unit (CSU) which serves as a data hub to enhance the county’s ability to analyze national and regional crime trends and coordinate information-sharing between agencies.

Maricopa County Attorney’s Office (Phoenix, AZ)

In 2018, Phoenix partnered with the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to build a Crime Gun Intelligence Center (CGIC), which uses data from the National Integrated Ballistics Information Network (NIBIN) to make connections between gun crimes using forensic analysis of firearms and ammunition. 

Nassau County District Attorney’s Office (Long Island, NY)

Working with Innovation Prosecution Solutions, Nassau County District Attorney’s Office is leading the implementation of a zone-focused prosecution model to combat gang crime in the Village of Hempstead.

Cook County State’s Attorney (Chicago, IL)

In response to violent crime committed by gang members and others in furtherance of the illegal drug trade, The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office (SAO) is utilizing Innovative Prosecution Solutions resources to diminish the profitability of these crimes. The SAO has hired a dedicated Financial and Cybercrimes Prosecutor, who coordinates law enforcement efforts to target financial enterprises with a nexus to violent crimes.

Cuyahoga County Office of the Prosecuting Attorney (Cleveland, OH)

In response to high homicide and robbery rates, the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office (CCPO), which handles felony cases for approximately 60 police municipalities has enhanced the capacity of its Crime Strategies Unit.

Hocking County Prosecutor’s Office (Logan, OH)

Through an Innovative Prosecution Solutions initiative, the Hocking County Prosecutor’s Office (HCPO) is developing a diversion program for individuals with substance abuse issues who have committed specified low-level criminal offenses and are in need of community-based substance abuse and behavioral health services as an alternative to incarceration.

Office of the Bronx District Attorney (Bronx, NY)

The Bronx District Attorney’s Office is utilizing Innovative Prosecution Solutions (IPS) grant funds and resources to implement evidence-based strategies that help reduce the jurisdiction’s high violent crime rates. The IPS Crime Strategies Bureau (CSB) is the project’s hub for analysis and uses both crime data and social media research to identify high need areas impacted by violence where prevention, engagement, intervention, and mitigation measures should be implemented. 

Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office (New Orleans, LA)

To curb the opioid epidemic, the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office received grant funding through Innovative Prosecution Solutions (IPS) to develop a Rapid-Response Overdose Homicide Unit, staffed by a dedicated prosecutor and a data analytics team from the Louisiana Public Health Institute. The Unit expedites and streamlines the collection evaluation of overdose crime scene evidence and generates intelligence.

Office of the Genesee County Prosecuting Attorney (Flint, MI)

In order to address deficiencies in timely information sharing regarding local crime drivers, the Genesee County Prosecutor’s Office (GCPO) Crime Strategies Unit (CSU) is investing in NC4 Street Smart technology, which produces crime bulletins to alert officers to issues in the field and allows up-to-date information to be transmitted instantaneously.
